Great Silkie consists of Sam Davies on vocals and guitar (and some Fender Rhodes), Andrew Saunders on Bass guitar and harmonies, and Charlie Salvidge on Drums and harmonies.

Dawn Chorus was predominantly written by singer and guitar player Sam Davies while living a hermitic existence in a cottage in the English countryside, getting away from the city to wrestle with feeling stuck in life. This is an album contemplating fear and loss, of searching for ways to become less self-destructive, an album of soul searching and introspection.

Produced by Euan Hinslewood (YoungHusband) who produced their well received singles Scared To Be Alone and So Many Hours (also released by us!). Dawn Chorus was recorded onto analogue tape machines and played and recorded in live takes, something that was important to Sam and the band. What this means is you really experience the musicianship and shared consciousness of Great Silkie as a unit, and you can see why they are such an effortlessly good live band!
